If you are anything like me, summers are a huge perk of being a teacher. These 10 things may not be universal, but they are definitely the things I will miss about summer vacation.
1. Sleeping till 8am
For all you school age kids, 8 seems early. When you wake up at 5, 8 is a luxury.
2. Wearing yoga pants to work
Working at the gym, my slacks, cardigans, and belts have gotten dusty. They can stay that way for all I care.
3. Taking naps
4. Not checking my work email
Don't tell my Principal that... I think I was suppose to check it all summer.. oh well!
5. Not using a single white board marker
6. Eating at Home on a Thursday
I love being able to make a gourmet lunch if I want to and then eating it on the couch while watching TV. There are very few times in our teacher lives that we get to each lunch at home on a week day.
7. Not being tired at 8pm.
During the school year, I forget that there are hours on the clock after 21:00.
8. Only having to clean my own home.
I enjoy cleaning and dusting when it is my dust and my dirt. Cleaning loses its appeal when you are cleaning up after 100 other people daily... can't those desks just stay dirty?
9. An empty "To Be Graded" folder.
The title speaks for itself.
10. Not using glue sticks, glue guns, tape, or any food projects to build anything!
Thank goodness I don't teach elementary school... I hate sticky fingers. I wonder who cleans up after all of these fun activities...
But as one time passes another time beings. So here is to a wonderful year of 5 am alarm clocks, button down shirts, white board markers, glue, and lots of fun and laughter.
