It has been 2 years since my husband and I got married, and I feel like we are finally getting our home set up like adults. It has felt more like 2 individual dormrooms smooshed together than the home of two married adults!
However, over the past few months I've made a conscious effort to make our home a cozy space for our family. I wanted to share some photos of our bedroom because I am so proud of how it has turned out!
I am also sharing 4 easy ways to freshen up your bedroom when you need a new look but don't have a huge budget.
1. Add Greenery
This is easy and can be so cheep! I'm lucky to have friends that give me clones of their plants, but I also bought this first green baby last week for 4.99. I didn't have a planter for it so I put it in a unused pitcher and loved the look! It added some perfect color and made the room so fresh.
2. A New Duvet Cover
I couldn't afford a new duvet, but I HATED our old one! Dom's from pre-marriage was leaking feathers so we threw it out, and since we were short on cash as newly weds, we got an ugly pink one (total momentary laps of judgement). I absolutely hated that comforter. Rather than getting a new one I got a DUVET COVER! So much cheaper but completely transforms the room! One of these days I will get a nice down comforter to put inside, but for a fresh look, a duvet color works wonderfully.
For a special treat, I got this Linen Duvet Cover from Labos Nakties with our initials on it. I am completely obsessed! It was a surprise for my husband and we both love it. You have got to check out their shop if you are in the need of a new duvet or duvet covet.
Here is their website and their Etsy page.
3. 1 Pillow
1 pillow can make a great change to a room! After I took these pictures, I decided I needed one more change and loved this pillow. It changed the whole color of the room and was a quick cheep change. Even better, just switch out pillows from one room to another.
4. Make A Reading Spot
I added this chair on a whim and we loved it so it stayed! We just moved it from one room to our bedroom so it didn't cost money, and gave a cute little spot to read or get ready.
Then Make It A Family Spot
Once you freshen up your space, spend time in it! We spend so much more time in our bedroom now that we don't have to hang out on that ugly comforter!
