Well Dom and I definitely had an eventful weekend! We left Thursday night for Massachusetts to visit Dom's family and to have our first baby shower! When we showed up there were FEET of snow on the ground and by the time we left there was at least a foot more! I'm talking cars COVERED in snow! I have never seen so much snow in my entire life!! Honestly, it wasn't as cold as I expected it to be, but I only had to walk to and from the car and buildings! I felt awful for the people having to work outside.
I kept trying to communicate what 1 inch of snow does in the south... aka Snowmageddon 2014. Props to Mass for being prepared to handle that much snow. If you are from the north, please watch this video to see what happens when it snows in Alabama!!
Other than seeing snow, we also had our first baby shower!! Dom's mom threw us an awesome shower in which I might have eaten my weight in fruit Kabobs and mini Cheese Cakes from his Aunt Sandy! She also added a sweet touch by asking everyone to bring their favorite childhood book with an inscription! That was definitely by favorite part.
I will post about all of the wonderful goodies that we were gifted for Oliver in my next Bumpdate.
The end of our weekend was not as enjoyable as the first half. We ended up with 1 canceled flight, 1 delayed flight that caused us to miss our connection, a night in a hotel (courtesy of JetBlue Airways), and our final flight being delayed by about 3 hours! Talk about exhausted by the time we got home. Last time I ever try to flight during New England Winter Storms!!
Have you ever been stuck in airports due to storms?
How did my Alabama buddies fare during last years snow storm??
