* Thank you to The First Years for the goodies for this post. A special thanks to Dreamwave for supplying a Finding Nemo swimsuit for Ollie. It didn't fit yet so we will post photos of it later. You can purchase these swimsuits on Amazon.
There are a few things that I believe help make a happy and successful bath time. Find my favorite brands for toys, shampoos, and tub safety.
There are 3 things that I consider must haves for a safe bath time: a non-slip bat mat, a spout cover, and a soft drain cover. In the first picture you can see our no-slip mat. Most stores sell them but I got ours from Target. Our spout and drain cover are from The First Year's Disney Collection from Babies R Us. A drain cover is only important if your tub is one that has a heavy metal drain stop like ours. Oliver almost smashed his toes a few times when dropping it and it had me worried so we switched to a cute plastic one. A spout cover is extremely important to me. No matter how disciplined your child is, accidents happen. Oliver hits his head on the spout cover constantly, so I am so happy we have it!
I am picky about what I use to clean Ollie. I've done my research and these are my 3 favorite products. I use a different one each time I wash him to keep his skin from drying out.
Wash With Water | best ingredients
Aveeno Baby- Soothing Relief Cream Wash | best moisturizer
Seventh Generation | best smelling and a great delivery system
I have been SO frustrated with bath toys! Half the things we buy him don't work or don't drain properly and start to smell. The Finding Nemo toys from The First Years have been great. Their stacking cups and turtle (not picture in photos because Oliver wouldn't let me have it!) are Oliver's favorite bath toys. We also like using non bath intended items such as plastic blocks, measuring cups, and empty water bottles. Whatever you use, make sure your child has some toys to entertain them, or they will try standing and climbing out of the tub (if they are anything like my son...).
Happy splashing little ones.
