I named my blog "My Life and My Airman" when Domenic decided to join the Air Force. What we didn't count on at the time was becoming pregnant AND God forcefully closing that door for us. Month after month Dom waited for a ship out date, and against all odds, things kept happening to prevent that from happening. As time went on, and Oliver became a reality, we realized that Dom was going to miss his birth and potentially the first 1-4 months of his life. Neither of us felt comfortable with that situation.
As much as both of us had committed all of our efforts and our future to joining the Air Force, Dom had no desire to miss out on the beginning of this son's life. About a month ago, Dom dropped out of the Air Force DEP program. It was an easy and pain free process which I will share with ya'll at a later date (for anyone interested in that process).
That left us will a daunting task of figuring out what we wanted to do with our lives! Not an easy place to be in! It has been a trying and exhausting month or so but we are beginning to get some direction and peace about where we will be headed and starting our new family together (news to come in the future!).
I started thinking about this blog and why I wanted to become a blogger in the first place. I wanted a place to keep our family and friends updated on life, and I wanted something to reflect on where we have been and how we have grown. Essentially the focus was not on a career but on our family as it grows. I have decided to rename my website www.simoneplus.com to symbolize all of the things that Dom and I are adding into our lives as we move, and grow, and do life together.
Bear with me if it takes a while to change everything over! I'm excited for this new direction and I hope you continue to follow along with us.
