I decided today to ask my 7th graders to write down one thing that they would change about my class next year. I had to throw out the ones that said "Let us wear hats" , "Let us use our phones in class" and "Not give Homework" but some of them were really helpful. I want my students- even though they won't be mine next year- to feel like they had a part in making this class better. They really liked doing this and spent a long time thinking about what they would write.
Here are some of their answers:

I got 3 that said "I wish we had done more labs".
I knew that I lacked in lab time especially at the end of the semester. It was hard to do lots of labs with cells, ecology, matter, etc. but I have since found some good ones that I will use next year that I am really excited about. (Feel free to email me for resources cause I have a ton now!)

I knew that I was going to get this answer from these students, because they BEGGED me to dissect all year! For some reason they think dissecting animals are as easy to get your hands on as road kill and wanted to dissecting everything from ducks to deer- yes a student asked if he could bring in the deer he shot for a dissection. This year my 7th graders dissected worms, frogs, and fetal pigs. Apparently I need to up the animals next year and get "interesting animals... maybe a cat!" for next year... Some one please send these kids to Medical School for me.

Some of them were not productive but were so adorable! These are the ones that I will keep forever! I loved my 7th graders. Hearing "we will miss you" and "I love you" from them is the greatest feeling.
One little boy said "Let us stay longer with Ms. Martin". He also put hearts all over the page so I know what his motivation was... awkward...
