This is my lasts summer school post for the year!
A few weeks ago we had the Mad Platter Store come to CE Murray. The woman that came brought bowls, mugs, and plates for the kids to paint. She spent time explaining the process required to fire the pottery that they were going to make in a kiln, and showing the students how to apply their paint.
The students spent about an hour and a half on 2 different pieces. The woman from Mad Platter collected the pieces when they were dry, had the students initial their names, and packed them to take back to the store. Here are the kids working! They loved this and most had never done anything like it.
2 weeks after we painted, one of the staff members went to Columbia to collect our pieces! They turned out so shiny and pretty. The kids were amazed how the pastel colors they had painted turned out so vibrant and deep. I didn't get pictures of the kids work but here are my finished products.
This would be a wonderful party or field trip idea. Check them out if you need a fun activity!
