Each review will feature the app's best features, let downs, and an app rating. I base my ratings on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the most satisfied.
*In the screenshot below, you see 5 apps instead of 4. Kidizen is a kids used clothes app that happens to be in my baby file with my other apps. I will not be reviewing that app in this post.
* I was not paid for any of these reviews. All opinions belong to me and this blog.
Let Downs: One thing that I do not like about the Ovia app is that there is not something new for you to see or interact with everyday. Other apps update your news feed with articles, to do lists, etc. I love seeing the new things that show up when I cross a "weeks" marker, but there is not much daily interaction.
Best Features: The hands down best thing about the Bump app is their pregnancy week-to-week feature. Nearly every app gives you updates each week with fruitful "your baby is the size of a Papaya" information, but I think the Bump's weekly updates are the best. The display is clean and easy to view, and the fruits look the yummiest! Other things that the Bump app does better than some other apps are their community forums and their interactive pregnancy to-do list.
Let Downs: The news feed is a bit cluttered with all of the features being graphed into one location. I would prefer if they kept community forums in its own section, guides in their section, and left the news feed for just articles and new info. I get a but overwhelmed by the news feed. They also do not allow you to track calories, weight, water, or any other gains on the app.
Rating: 7 (simply because they don't allow you to track things. If they did I would rate this higher.)
Best Features: I feel like the Pregnancy Companion app is the best for tracking water intake. It is so easy to just click on the glass and count how many cups of water I have had that day. They also have a good contraction counter for when the time comes, a weight gain tracker, and a kicks counter. This app is definitely designed for those that like to record their daily statistics. The other unique feature of this app is their name picking guide! Twice I lost the list Dom and I were using to keep track of the names we liked. Their Names suggestions and Lists made it easy to remember and narrow down our favorite names.
Let Downs: I hate that their is not a news feed of new daily articles and information for me to check up on. The app does have articles in their Topics and Ask the Docs section, but I have not been impressed by their variety of article.
Best Features: The What To Expect app has BY FAR the best daily information and articles. Every day I get between 5-10 links on my newsfeed. These links can be cute videos of babies, daily tips, educational article, product recalls, or advice for dads. They have links to blogs by experienced moms, ideas for free baby products, and Maternity clothes ideas all filter into one daily news feed. The first thing I do in the mornings is see the new articles and information I have! All day I am checking back to see if they updated with any new articles or good reading tidbits. The What to Expect app is definitely designed for information overdrive people like myself!
Let Downs: There are no trackers and their week-to-week updates don't have any cute fruit pictures!
Rating: 8 (for the high quality of information that they provide.)
Best Tracker: Pregnancy Compaion
Best Week-to-Week Updates: The Bump
Best Forums: The Bump
Best Daily information site: What To Expect
Best All-Around: Ovia
I recommend downloading 2 or 3 different apps to give yourself the greatest variety of information and fun things to do when posted up in bed.
