Today was the first day that I wasn't running around like a mad woman on my planning period to get things done. For the first time in 9 months all of my papers are graded, my grade book is up to date, my parent contact logs are filled in, and I don't have a list of things sitting in front of my! It feels amazing to be sitting down on a computer for 5 minutes- on my feet and on my brain.
To add to the wedding and moving and everything else that was going on, I am also going through the preliminary rounds of formal evaluation (teacher talk for being observed and doing a ton of paper work to see if you are a good teacher). It adds a ton of busy work and planning to my day.
But enough complaining, here is what I have been doing when I am not blogging!
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we took a total of 120 students kayaking on the Black River! It was so much fun but oh so exhausting. Dom didn't understand why I was passing out when I got home. We kayaked a total of 12 1/2 miles in 3 days and spent hours swimming and running around in the sun. It was important for our kids because- for many of them- they had never been on the water before let alone in a boat! One day, not being afraid of water and having rudimentary swimming skills could save their life. We were able to go because of a grant that provided this trip for us. We were so grateful.
*If you would like information on how to get this grant for your South Carolina school, please contact me.
We have had a blast using all of our new wedding presents! Thank You to everyone who has blessed us so much. It makes it much more fun to cook when you have pretty new things to use.
When it is so nice outside, who wants to sit inside on a computer! We have been playing football in the yard, taking the dog on walks, and loving being outside this time of year!
You know how there comes those shows every once in a while where you get hooked and you just can't stop watching? That has been Arrow for Dom and I this last week. I think we have been watching for 5 days and we just started season 2. We can't stop!! It might be the only thing we talked about yesterday...
Another thing I have been doing a lot of lately is checking out other blogs for new content and ideas. A girl whose blog is so well written and oh so cute is Haleigh at Consider the Peel. Get to know here a little bit below!
Consider the Peel is a blog about the leftovers in life. I am an artist, but I like doing things unconventionally - saving what most people would throw away. My blog captures the madness of my daily life. I've got lots of healthy recipes, DIY projects, and thoughts on books. Occasionally, I'll also throw in a post about my mountainside home and the adventures I've been having.
