Dressing a toddler in the summer is one of my favorite things to do! All of the tank tops, shorts, rompers, sneakers, crocs - ah it just makes me so happy! Like any mom, I get sucked in with all the cute clothes over-flowing the big box stores like Target or the mall, however, I've learned that lots of those brands don't hold up well from year to year. Baby and toddler clothes have to be washed constantly which does a lot of damage on cheaper materials.
Last summer I bought most of Oliver's clothes a bit too big in the hopes that they would fit him again this spring and summer. I bought tons of shorts, tanks, and tee shirts from Target and Old Navy, however when I took them out this year, the material was so rough from all the washing and the collars and hems were in rugged shape. I ended up throwing most of them out. They weren't even worth saving for the next child.
So, I decided this year to invest in higher quality play clothes so they will last through multiple seasons and multiple children. Here is my round up of the best shops to stock up on this summer
Mallory from Rad Revolution hands down wins best material with her pieces. Her fabric is light and stretchy and I want her to make me some leggings with this stuff! It holds up perfectly in the dryer and makes getting Oliver dressed so easy cause I can just whip the clothes right on and off. Her rompers are PERFECT if you are working on potty training this summer. She currently carries rompers, jogger pants, swim shorts, rash guards, footie lounge pants for babies, and shorts.

P.S. Her shop is currently (4/25/17) 20% off with code "Bloom" until Friday (4/28/17).
The Tea Collection is a favorite because they remind me of Old Navy. Their prints are adorable (most are globally inspired which really hooked me) and modern without being in your face loud (talking to you Target and your Paw Petrol overload) and their styles are solid classics. However, their quality is just so much better than Old Navy. And, they carry everything - shoes, swim, pajamas, church, play, etc - so you can do a one stop shop for everything your kids need. There are select stores through out the US that carry their line (I found one in Alabama near me) but I have always made my purchases through their website.
Oliver is wearing: The Pedirka Baby Set (grey shirt with white paint marks and orange cargo shorts) and the Hump Day Tee
Colored Organic holds a piece of my heart because of the mission that their business stand behind. They make their clothes with organic hypo-allergenic cotton and their process is both environmentally friendly and ethically produced. Read more on their website about their mission to promote Fair Trade Clothing practices.
Their styles are simple and classic so this is a great place to get your basics. If you are the mom who likes simple without patterns and frill, this is going to be your heaven! Plus, you just can't beat this kind of quality.

4. Purl Lamb
Purl Lamb was a brand that I discovered last year and they make my favorite shorts of all time. Oliver wore these little shorties at least 3 times a week last summer and if he didn't have such a big belly now, I'd squeeze him into them again! But I did the more responsible thing and ordered him another pair for this summer in their blue stripes pattern (don't have photos of these yet so here are some flash backs to last summer). Something about little booty shorts on a kid kills me!
5. Lulu and Roo
You have seen some fall/winter Lulu and Roo pieces (Grey and Grey Sweats pictured above) but I don't want to forget them for summer because their shorts and beach tanks are perfect. I just put in an order for some shorts and tanks but they aren't here yet to photograph. However I didn't want to leave them off this post as I'm obsessed with their style and longevity.
And there you have it. My 5 favorite places to shop for high quality kids summer play clothes. Keep a look out for these brands as they will pop up a lot in my Instagram over the next few months - with some single season Old Navy tanks sprinkled in there because I just can't help myself!
